Innovative body support for ultrasound imaging procedures.
Background
Ultrasound imaging is now widely used for monitoring the condition of articulations, ligaments, cartilage, and muscles. Current ultrasound techniques cannot guarantee standardized image acquisition, as ultrasound images often suffer from poor reproducibility and cannot always be accurately overlapped and compared across different examinations. This limited repeatability and reproducibility result from the lack of standardization in both image acquisition and interpretation.
Technology
The invention consists of a body support device in the form of a longitudinal axle that can be removably attached to two circular bases positioned at its ends. This innovation has two main advantages: it is rigid and customizable according to the size of the joint and the patient's height and weight, thereby ensuring standardized image acquisition; it is lightweight and portable, making it suitable for performing ultrasound examinations at patients' homes, along with the growing adoption of telemedicine.
