Integrated approach to the study of hematological diseases and the immune system /
Medicine - Immunology and Allergology

Autonomic nervous system study

  • Noninvasive systems of autonomic nervous system study applied to different diseases with participation in clinical trials.
  • Evaluation of cardiovascular autonomic control for diagnosis and follow-up of patients with various diseases such as syncope and primary and secondary dysautonomias and for cardiovascular risk profiling in patients with chronic diseases.
  • Application of non-invasive neuromodulation techniques of the autonomic nervous system for the treatment of dysautonomia, inflammation, and depressive symptoms in different cohorts of patients.

Systemic autoimmune diseases

  • Development of predictive models for identifying patients at risk for complications related to the underlying disease.
  • Single-center and multicenter clinical trials to identify risk factors, progression and response to therapy of systemic autoimmune diseases.
  • Translational studies, particularly "Omics" analyses including gene expression, proteomics, microbiomics and metabolomics of systemic autoimmune diseases to identify risk factors, progression and response to therapy.
  • Cellular models of immune-mediated diseases.
  • Participation in national and international clinical trials

Syncope

  • Risk stratification of patients with syncope in the emergency room
  • Diagnostic yield of different methods for the study of patients with syncope
  • Insight into the pathophysiological mechanisms related to syncope

Allergies

  • Identification of new allergens and association between pollen allergy and Oral Allergy Syndrome, the main manifestation of food allergy in adults.
  • Study of etiopathogenetic mechanisms and new therapies of chronic urticaria (the Center contributes to the drafting of Italian guidelines), allergic asthma, and drug allergy.
  • Clinical, epidemiology and therapy of hymenoptera venom allergy (the Center contributes to the drafting of Italian guidelines and participates in international multicenter studies).
