Pediatric Nutrition
Focus of research activity is characterization of fatty acid patterning in development and disease and nutrition in healthy and sick children

Pediatric rheumatologic diseases
Research activity is focused, in particular, on macrophage activation syndrome, pediatric vasculitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The research team is involved in numerous national and international clinical trials, in which it is both a promoter and participating center.

Pediatric liver diseases
National and international trials on pediatric liver diseases, neonatal and pediatric cholestasis, calcinosis, fulminant or sub-fulminant hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, metabolic hepatopathies, steatohepatitis in children and adolescents, portal hypertension and its complications are active. The research team is engaged in a number of national and international clinical trials.

Gastroenterological pathologies
The research activity mainly concerns chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (M. Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis)

Primary immunodeficiencies
Research activity is aimed at studying diagnostic and therapeutic innovations for pediatric patients with primary immunodeficiencies and prognostic factors for cardiac impairment in children with Kawasaki disease. In particular, there are active projects on humoral immunity deficits, Kawasaki Disease polymorphisms and hyper-IgE syndrome, and the use of cortisone in some specific diseases.  The research team is engaged in some national and international clinical trials.

Pediatric allergies
Research activity is aimed at the study of food allergies, respiratory allergies and cross-reactions between food and inhalants, atopic dermatitis associated with food allergy, the correlation between asthma and obesity, nutritional aspects in children with food allergy, and food desensitization.
