IRCCS Cà-Granda General Hospital founded in 2000 the "Center for Prevention and Diagnosis of Celiac Disease", directed by Dr. Maria Teresa Bardella to help patients with celiac disease providing personalized diagnostic and follow-up pathways. In addition to gastroenterologists and endoscopists, the Center coordinates a team of specialists following correlated problems.
Currently the Center manages more than 2500 adult celiac patients, with observation periods up to 30 years.
It was in recognition of the enormous scientific and clinical experience gained in such a long period of time that the IRCCS Cà-Granda general Hospital decided to create such a structure, giving to the patients a specific reference point, that follows and offer them the medical services required for the special features of the celiac disease. The creation of this structure will not only improve the service offered to the patients but also will encourage and support scientific research in this field.
