I BENEFATTORI DELL'OSPEDALE MAGGIORE DI MILANO (2009)

Through the narration of biographical events of sixty of the numerous characters, combined from very different social backgrounds, which over the centuries have benefited the Ospedale Maggiore di Milano, comes to life a great and fascinating historical narrative in which the celebration of memory as reminds the President of the Foundation IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico "is not only the memory of a past irretrievably lost, but also gratitude for those who have been generous". The study and the survey of one hundred and seventy funerary monuments of the ancient hospital benefactors Lombard, who has the burden of their maintenance, have revealed significant figures of entrepreneurs and artisans, merchants and intellectuals united by the desire to help, with their goods, the suffering and science.
Sites mainly in Milan Monumental Cemetery, but also in other cemeteries and even outside the region of Lombardy, the tombs are in many cases adorned with exquisite sculptures, or architectural feature designed by famous architects and inspired by the styles of the moment, from eclecticism, to liberty, to rationalism.
The texts, characterized by a pleasantly informative tone and accompanied by a rich and varied collection of images, based on detailed philological research, conducted at many archives have brought to light new discoveries.
