ELENCO, STORICO BIOGRAFICO, DEI BENEFATTORI DELL’OSPEDALE MAGGIORE DI MILANO 1456-1886

The book by Pietro Canetta, archivist of Ospedale Maggiore during the second half of the nineteenth century, contains the list of benefactors of the Hospital for the period 1456 to 1886. The work, as explained by the same author, is divided into two parts depending on the importance of the amount bestowed by benefactors: the first relates to those who donated figures not less than L. 10,000, the second those who devolsero lowest amounts up to L. 10. The work also includes a quick historical presentation aimed at restoring the basic steps of the Ospedale Maggiore history and tradition of the execution of portraits to keep alive the memory of benefactors. This volume updates the edition of 1880: Cenni sull’Ospedale maggiore di Milano e sulla sua beneficienza; coll'aggiunta di notizie storico-biografiche dei più insigni benefattori ricordati nella biennale esposizione dei quadri nella ricorrenza della festa padronale, detta del Perdono (Milano, Tip. Sociale, 1880).
